Mission & History

Our mission is to support discussion about food and health, and to support creative community activities. With the Food Font interactive online tool, anyone can “write with food” using the food alphabets submitted to the project, and create images that can be printed, saved, and shared. Food Font is designed to be used by a variety of groups including you with your friends and family, farmer’s markets, teachers and students in the classroom, community gardens, chefs and restaurants, and people who have a passion for food. It is a fun, creative activity that anyone can do of any age, and in any size group. Food Font started in 2012 with a series of public events which were done in Ohio, Wisconsin, New York, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania. In 2012 a total of 22 community alphabets, and over 1200 letters were created.

Services & Products

Food Font is an interactive art project where anyone can make alphabets out of food, take pictures of each letter, and later use these and other food alphabets in a fun, free, interactive online design tool. The project supports dialogue and builds community around food, health, and sustainability. We do community Food Font events, provide support materials to help you get involved with the project, and support the Food Font design tool. We also have lesson plans for teachers, and do public Food Font events.

Best Practices

Achieving Green Plus Certification reflects a company’s commitment to improving its profits through economic, social, and environmental practices: the triple bottom line. While all Green Plus Certified and Mover businesses have embraced practices in these three areas to improve its sustainability, some companies go above and beyond by achieving a perfect score in sub-categories of the Green Plus Diagnostic Survey.
