Mission & History
Food FWD's mission is to make food waste diversion the easiest and most economical choice for the Triangle food service industry by diverting pre- and post-consumer food waste from land-fills, and hauling it to composting facilities where it can remain a vital part of the food-cycle.
Services & Products
Food FWD’s primary service is to provide routine food waste collection for restaurants, schools, hospitals, and other commercial food service providers on a customizable once, twice, or thrice weekly schedule. Food waste is collected from food waste carts, the carts are re-line with biodegradable liners, and returned to the area designated by the customer for their storage. Food waste diversion from landfills to compost facilities gives the restaurant a simple, high-impact way to reduce their carbon footprint and show their customers how committed they are to being a sustainable and responsible business.
In order to make food waste collection as simple as possible Food FWD provides in-house staff training for customers’ team members and staff to learn what can and cannot be considered organic food waste. By providing training on organic/food waste separation Food FWD makes participating in food was diversion easy for its customers.
Food FWD also sells EcoSafe™ compostable serviceware to decrease the volume of landfill bound waste, simplify in-house sorting processes, and give customers the knowledge that they are being good stewards of the environment. Customers can order EcoSafe™ products at a discounted rate through a Food FWD representative and have them delivered straight to the store.
Sustainability Awards & Certification
Achieving Green Plus Certification reflects a company’s commitment to improving its profits through economic, social, and environmental practices: the triple bottom line. While all Green Plus Certified and Mover businesses have embraced practices in these three areas to improve its sustainability, some companies go above and beyond by achieving a perfect score in sub-categories of the Green Plus Diagnostic Survey.
