Mission & History
MDC's mission is to help organizations and communities close the gaps that separate people from opportunity. Now entering its 44th year of working to advance equity for people and places left behind, MDC pursues an applied research agenda of synthesizing information and communicating it in an accessible way MDC translates its research findings and experiences in demonstration programs into actionable policy recommendations for local, state, and national decision-makers. Currently MDC serves as an intermediary and partnership manager for several large initiatives funded by major U.S. foundations.
Services & Products
Works include: publishing research; developing policies and programs to strengthen the workforce and foster economic development; advising foundations, community colleges and other institutions; and demonstrating and incubating promising strategies to address opportunity and close gaps.
