Mission & History
Sweet Beet City Farm is an urban farm located in the heart of Downtown Durham. Sweet Beet occupies 1.3 acres on Mangum Street between Hunt and Broadway that has, until recently, stood vacant. We envision a vibrant urban farm that can provide nutritious fruits and vegetables for its surrounding neighbors, a place where folks can gather to learn from each other, and create new life for these formerly vacant lots.
Services & Products
We sell sustainably grown, pesticide free fruits and vegetables. We will sell honey in 2014 and have a limited supply of free range eggs. We sell at our Farmstand on Mangum Street and online, through our website.
Achieving Green Plus Certification reflects a company’s commitment to improving its profits through economic, social, and environmental practices: the triple bottom line. While all Green Plus Certified and Mover businesses have embraced practices in these three areas to improve its sustainability, some companies go above and beyond by achieving a perfect score in sub-categories of the Green Plus Diagnostic Survey.
