In the past six weeks, Green Plus has certified five businesses in multiple industries, all hailing from the Triangle area of North Carolina.
Top of the Hill Distillery, Integrated Laboratory Systems, Effect Energy, Auto Logic and the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants (NCACPA) have all excelled in sustainability in their respective fields, and proven their commitment to the high economic, environmental, and social standards in their businesses that is required by Green Plus Certification.
With these additions, Green Plus now has 73 Certified organizations in its network. A description of these five business sustainability leaders can be found below.
Top of the Hill Distillery, well-known for its restaurant and brewery of the same name in the heart of downtown Chapel Hill, North Carolina, is the first distillery in the country to become Green Plus Certified. The distillery joined Green Plus earlier this year as a recipient of a scholarship provided by the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chamber of Commerce. They are the first of 21 recipients of these scholarships to earn Green Plus certification.
Integrated Laboratory Systems (ILS), a scientific research company based in the Research Triangle Park, made sure that all of its sustainability efforts and initiatives were benefiting the company and the environment before submitting itself for Certification. Its efforts, which improved steadily over ILS’s two year involvement in Green Plus, helped push it over the edge to earn Certification.
Raleigh’s Effect Energy is one of the newest Green Plus members, yet was ready and committed to earn Certification almost immediately after its entrance into the program. Effect Energy, which installs energy efficiency upgrades and renewable energy in residential and commercial buildings, has a strong sustainability ethic stemming from the work that it does and the people it partners with.
Auto Logic, an auto repair shop specializing in imported vehicles, is also one of Green Plus’s newest members who also received a scholarship provided by the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chamber of Commerce. Auto Logic has been serving the Chapel Hill and Carrboro community for over 20 years, and has always had policies in place that places a great commitment on sustainability and social responsibility.
The North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants (NCACPA), based in Morrisville, North Carolina, recently underwent a building overhaul, renovating and upgrading water appliances, lights and floor plans in order to provide a healthier workplace for its employees. NCACPA has another round of renovations planned for 2013 which will further enhance its building and surrounding environment.
Congratulations to these five businesses. Green Plus is proud to work with these leaders in sustainability, and count them among our Certified organizations.
