FOX 50 WRAZ-TV Lead Media Partner for Green Plus Sustainable Enterprise Awards

FOX 50 (WRAZ-TV) will be the lead Media Partner as the Triangle-based Institute for Sustainable Development recognizes smaller employers from around the country for their efforts to combine good business, environmental and community practices at the Green Plus North American Sustainable Enterprise Awards. The Green Plus Awards take place February 25th at 8:15a.m. at the Research Triangle Park Foundation.

Tommy Schenck – Vice President & General Manager of FOX 50 (WRAZ-TV), said, “As a locally-owned and operated station in the heart of the Triangle, we’re proud to be a partner in this effort.”

The national awards are held annually at Research Triangle Park Foundation and are presented by GlaxoSmithKline. Other major sponsors include The Greater Durham Chamber of Commerce; UNC Chapel Hill; the American Chamber of Commerce Executives; the Chapel Hill – Carrboro Chamber of Commerce; Wells Fargo / Wachovia; The Redwoods Group; and Duke Energy. FOX 50 WRAZ news anchor Gerald Owens will serve as the Master of Ceremonies for the event.

The Green Plus Awards recognize CEOs and small business owners from around the country for their excellence in business, environmental, and community practices.

“FOX 50 is a great fit for the Green Plus Awards,” said Chris Carmody, Executive Director of the Institute for Sustainable Development. “FOX 50 has led a number of successful community efforts and received the Service to America Award in 2010 from the National Association of Broadcasters Foundation.”

Last year, FOX 50 created a number of community campaigns, including the “What Color Do YOU Bleed?” effort to encourage donations to the American Red Cross, as well as a series of E-cycling events to help residents and businesses get rid of electronic waste responsibly and create awareness around improper and dangerous disposal of electronic waste.
