Green Plus Welcomes a New Team Member

In September, Green Plus was thrilled to welcome Amanda Komar to our small but mighty team.  A member of the third Green Plus Summer Fellowship Class, Amanda started with Green Plus in June and we’re excited to have her on board to help us build and improve the Green Plus community.  Amanda’s interests lie in using collaboration, outreach, education, and new, innovative ways to promote environmental protection.

One of her first big accomplishments was creating a weekly Green Plus podcast series.  Are you there yet?  focuses on specific aspects of sustainability (such as waste management and energy efficiency) and highlights Green Plus Champion businesses who excel in these areas.  The first series of podcasts is available here.

In her new role as Community Coordinator, Amanda will also be the contact person for Green Plus businesses looking for direction, getting help scheduling coaching sessions with our host of excellent graduate students, and connecting with similar-minded businesses to share practices and learn from each other.

Amanda joins us as a recent graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she received her master’s degree in Journalism and Mass Communication.  Prior to graduate school, Amanda worked with EnDyna, Inc out of Washington, DC where she focused primarily on the firm’s largest client, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.  In 2006 she graduated from Virginia Tech (go Hokies!) with a major in Environmental Policy and Planning and minors in Forestry and Psychology.

We educate, motivate, and recognize smaller enterprises for their efforts towards becoming more sustainable. We’re here to offer tangible, practical tips and expertise in sustainability.
